Dear Members of the Hamilton Sledgehammers,

The message provided is the most up to date information we have in regard to the new COVID-19 policies and requirements for this season from OSHA. Also, a message in regards to players commitment for this season.

As a condition of participating in any sanctioned hockey activities, OSHA has established a policy requiring the following persons (“Affected Persons”) to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (i.e.: including the 14-day period after receiving their completed dose) by November 1, 2021

• Players born in 2009 or earlier

• Game Officials (referees, linespersons, timekeepers)

• Team Officials (coaches, trainers, and managers)

• Volunteers serving in any other capacity.

All involved parties must provide documentation to the OSHA executive and their Club as applicable, evidence demonstrating that they have received the completed series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine by October 17, or earlier.

OSHA will comply with the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and provide accommodation up to the point of undue hardship to any Affected Person who is unable to be vaccinated for substantiated medical reasons and/or on grounds protected under the OHRC. Any Affected Person who has not been granted an accommodation and who has not received their completed series of an Accepted COVID-19 Vaccine by November 1, 2021, or who has not disclosed their vaccination status by that date, will no longer be eligible to participate in any Sanctioned Activity until such time as they present satisfactory evidence that they are fully vaccinated.

At the present time, the policy does not apply to players born in 2010 or later, or to spectators.

Commitment 2021-2022 Season

The HDSHA Board would like to know every player intention for this upcoming season. We would need a commitment from players before September 17th at 8pm so we can plan our season and start scheduling games and practices. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact a team manager or a Board member.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter,

HDSHA Board
